Examining Housing Now

Expensive real estate prices and high occupancy rates have made it difficult for Torontonians to find a place to live.

To combat this reality, Mayor Tory has tasked staff to find a way to speed up the approval process with the goal of building 40,000 new, affordable-rental units in the next 12 years. The first wave of proposed redevelopment of 11 city-owned sites is called “Housing Now”.

Mark J. Richardson will examine specific building sites and the factors that could prevent the city from achieving its housing goals.
